The List of Ideas

Here it is, the list you've all been waiting for! Maybe....

These are the things that Celia, Ross, and I thought should be done differently next year around:

  • brighter colors should be used on the garments (it makes them waaaay more noticable)
  • we need to start making garments much earlier than December (we were thinking October would be a great time to start)
  • we need to go to more places than just the Plaza (Independence Square, Downtown KC, Crown Center, and Westport were some ideas)
  • contact should be made to news crews way in advance, so that they might do a story on it or something

~Danielle

ps-We'd love to make this list longer. If you guys think of anything that we should do differently please leave a comment. Thanks!!!!

I think the list is pretty good so far. Maybe we could set up something at the library like a knit-off to help provide items to put out?

I also left 12 items around town, focusing mainly on Brookside and the area around 43rd and Main. As of yesterday, only one of my items was still hanging on a fence in Brookside.

I agree that bright colors and media awareness are key. I would also recommend putting up "recruiting posters" in all of the big-box craft stores around town a couple of months ahead.

Since you did get the publicity photo and blurb in the Star, use it on all of your recruiting info as a teaser.

I love the idea of a knit-off! I promise you that it'll happen, one way or another. I'll keep you updated.

As for the "recruiting posters", we did get a nice amount of those out this time. But, I think that you're right-we DO need to get those things out a couple months ahead of time, instead of one month ahead of time like we did this time. And, we only hit small shops this year. Next year, we'll be sure to hit up bigger stores as well (sooner than the small time stores).

Thanks for the input, Celia and Leslie!
